Borghese Gallery Timed Ticket with an Audio Guide App
The Borghese does not sell tickets at the door in any useful sense. Entry is by timed slot, the number inside is capped, and the slots go early. Turning up hoping to get in is how people end up looking at the villa from the garden. This is the ticket, booked in advance for a date and hour of your choosing, with a digital audio guide included so you have the commentary without a group. Inside, the sculpture is what the building was arranged around. Bernini's Apollo and Daphne. The Rape of Proserpina, where the fingers press into marble and leave dents. Aeneas carrying his father out of Troy, made when Bernini was barely twenty. Canova's Pauline Borghese. On the walls, frescoed ceilings and the Caravaggios. The slot runs up to two hours, which is enough if you do not linger over everything. Afterwards the park is outside and free, with its fountains and its avenues, and nobody is timing you there.
