The six best-reviewed ways in
Chosen by weight of evidence rather than by margin: these carry about 3,900 reviews between them, none rates below 4.4, and every one includes admission to the monument. Prices are the lead-in, in euro.

The dossier
We calculated where the sunlight lands, every month of the year
The Pantheon has one window and it is a hole in the roof. The disc of light it throws is nine metres across, it moves all day and all year, and it reaches the floor for only about a hundred days.
Nobody publishes where it actually falls, so we worked it out: the sun's position from the standard astronomical algorithm, the geometry of the room from the archaeological survey. Two things came out of it that most accounts get wrong. The famous beam across the doorway on 21 April happens at about 12:59, not at noon — the building is turned four degrees off north and Italy's clock runs late. And the light never lands in the centre, not once in nineteen centuries.
It is arithmetic, so it does not go out of date.
The building, written properly
Eight pages on the monument itself, with the sources named and the disagreements left visible rather than averaged away. Six of them start here.
Things that are not true
The MIT concrete study was not about the Pantheon. The coffers barely lighten the dome. Twenty claims that do not survive checking, several of them published by institutions.
Who is buried here
Raphael bought his tomb rather than receiving it, and one cardinal left only his heart. Fourteen burials we can document by name, told apart from the memorials.
The dome and the oculus
Still the largest unreinforced concrete dome anywhere. What holds it up is not the coffers: it is a shell that thins from 5.9 metres to 1.5, filled with progressively lighter stone.
Beyond the Pantheon
The state sells a 45-minute walk through the rooms behind the rotunda for ten euro. Two products in the entire affiliate catalogue touch it, and two of the slots are before opening time.
The year at the Pantheon
Rose petals dropped through the oculus at Pentecost, a beam across the doorway in April, twelve free Sundays and exactly two days shut. The dates calculated for the next two years.
A history
Agrippa's building burned down twice. The one standing survived because a pope re-roofed it in lead in the eighth century, and because it acquired a congregation that objected to carts.
Before you go
Seven euro, three queues, and no such thing as skip-the-line
Entry costs 7.00 euro, raised from five on 1 July 2026. When we surveyed twelve websites built to sell Pantheon tickets, ten still printed the old price or none at all.
Ten of those twelve also sell skip-the-line access. The ministry that owns the building states twice on its own page that it does not exist. What exists is three separate queues outside, and the fastest is the cash desk on the left, which visitors report clearing in five to fifteen minutes even in August.
Nine pages cover the rest: opening hours, dress code, step-free access, the best month to come, and an honest account of when a guided tour is worth the money and when it is not.

Free Entry at the Pantheon in Rome on the First Sunday, and What All Saints Changes
On 1 November 2026 two rules land on the same morning at the Pantheon in Rome: free entry, because it is the first Sunday, and a Sunday Mass that stops tourist visiting while it runs. No timed slots are issued that day, so a booking with an entry time has nothing behind it.
How Far in Advance Can You Book the Pantheon in Rome? About Six Weeks
You cannot book the Pantheon in Rome three months out. The calendar is drawn up one month at a time and the slots appear around the middle of the month before, so the real horizon is about six weeks. An empty calendar usually means an unopened month, not a sold-out one.
Which Pantheon Website Is the Official One? In Rome There Are Four, and They Sell Different Things
Four sellers at the Pantheon use the word official, and they sell different things. The €7 admission is the Italian state's, with no booking fee and no audio guide. The official audio guide is the basilica Chapter's. Resellers list the same visit from €4.70 to €25.
